Effect of mindfulness based psycho-educational program on internalized stigma among psychiatric patients

Psychiatric patients often accept and internalize the stereotypes prejudices existing in society about their conditions, which is known as internalized stigma or self-stigma. The creation of mindfulness could be an effective approach fighting self-stigmatization. This study aimed at evaluating effect mindfulness-based psycho-educational program on among psychiatric patients. A quasi-experimental research design (pre post-test) was utilized this study. 50 inpatients New Minia Mental Health Addiction Treatment Hospital were included. Internalized Stigma Illness Scale used results revealed a marked decrease levels post-test follow-up test than pre-test with highly statistically significant differences. concluded that based-psycho-educational reducing Continuous provision programs to increase patients’ awareness disorders help recommended.
